Brabantse Nieuwe: Fedrik Vaessen

From March 7, we are proud to present our new BN: Fedrik Vaessen (Tilburg, 1994). His hybrid sculptures seem to originate from a possible future — a world that feels both familiar and alienating at the same time.

Hybrid

The hybrid sculptures of Fedrik Vaessen (Tilburg, 1994) originate from a future world that feels both familiar and alienating at the same time. He uses digital techniques such as 3D modeling, while also applying materials like wax and aluminum. The result is work that appears both mechanical and organic. In his practice, Vaessen blends elements of bodies, architecture, and technology. The sculptures reveal a visual language of body horror, explore the concept of cyborgs, and challenge binary thinking.

About Fedrik

Fedrik lives and works in Tilburg. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from St. Joost in Breda in 2022. He is a multimedia artist who primarily creates sculptures. The materials he uses include found objects, ceramics, 3D prints, epoxy clay, horns, and wax-like materials.
