Seasoned Sins

Summer, autumn, winter, spring… and then?
Fiona Lutjenhuis adds a fifth season in her first solo museum exhibition, Seasoned Sins. According to her, we’ve lost touch with the natural rhythm of the seasons.

She creates seasonal rooms filled with wall paintings, folding screens, and dolls. The Quist in the museum is almost unrecognisable!

5 seasons

With both existing and new works (created especially for this exhibition), Fiona guides you through the rhythm of nature, following the four seasons. Each installation and painting reflects the characteristics of a specific season, such as the inward-focused winter room, or the summery sandbox that invites you to step outside.
In the fifth season, you experience how we’ve lost touch with the natural rhythm of nature. This space encourages reflection: how can we reconnect with that rhythm again?

Fantasy & sci-fi

Colourful, detailed, and imaginative paintings draw you in and dazzle the eye. But things are not what they seem. Look closer and you’ll discover UFOs, religious references, and mystical creatures. Those who really pay attention will notice a dark and unsettling undertone, though there’s always a touch of humour somewhere. This contrast is a clear source of inspiration for Lutjenhuis, rooted in her unconventional childhood. Wander through a world of wall paintings, drawings, and hand-painted folding screens.
