Vincent van Gogh

Delve into the past of the Brabant master

Vincent van Gogh is one of the most famous painters in the world, yet few people know that he was born in Brabant. The presentation Van Gogh in Brabant illustrates his love of the province – with twelve of his paintings, along with letters, personal documents, photos, animations, and other unique objects.

About the presentation

The painter had a profound attachment to Brabant. He spent half his life there, and the region shaped him. On the tour, you will see paintings from Van Gogh's Brabant oeuvre, from 1883 to 1885, such as the Watermill at Kollen and Peasant woman digging. We talk you through his development as a painter and immerse you in the main themes from this period: the rural environment, peasant life, and still life.

Did you know that Het Noordbrabants Museum is the only place in Brabant where you can see original paintings by Van Gogh? By booking a guided tour, you can be certain that you're not missing anything. Plus, the tour guide will not only show you the work of Vincent van Gogh himself, but also works by artists such as Jan Sluijters, who were inspired by Van Gogh.
